Graphics Tutorial Continued

Editing your Texture

And you thought you were finished.

During your test flight you would have noticed several things that are wrong with your texture.

At least all of us should have a problem with the door (Figure 30) Looks like we forgot to fix this in the primary image.

Figure 30

Others will notice that their fuselage black and yellow lines do not quite line up correctly or are misaligned. (Figures 30 and 31)

Figure 31

Well – the bane of creating textures is that there is always some editing to be done before we are completely happy with our aircraft.

First we will fix the door – open your Bahamas-737.bmp image in PSP5. Copy the door on the fuselage and paste over the top of the other door near the engine.
(Figure 32) Problem 1 fixed.

Figure 32

Next we will fix the lining up of the lines – I simply used the Dropper to select the orange colour and then added an additional line of 2 pixels along the top of the yellow/orange line on the front of the fuselage.

Problem 2 possibly fixed – may have to add or remove a line if it is not quite aligned.

I also elected to extend the black line along the bottom of the fuselage through the wing root area just to see if it enhances the texture or not. (Figure 33)

Now Save Bahamas-737.bmp and then reset colours to 256 and save again as b737_400_t.bmp in the texture.2 directory.

Fly your creation once more and test.

Don’t you just love this texture editing stuff.  It never seems to finish………..

For the real diehards, some of you will have noticed that we have not carried the orange/yellow strip through to the tail leading fin. Well you all should be able to do that without any more guidance from me – your all experts now….

End of Normal Texture Editing

Now go to Step 6 if you want to do the reflective effects.
