Step 3 The Stripes
Now the
vertical stripes have to be done at the rear of the fuselage. This can be a
little time consuming and requires some effort to ensure that the stripes match
up to the tail section that we will be doing in step 4.
(See Figure 16)

Figure 16
Tools to be
used: Line
and Dropper
From the
image above we can see that the first line starts below the third window from
the door and runs up at an angle through the top left corner of the fourth
window. We will draw all of the outlines for the stripes in orange as the blue
can be filled in later.
First we need
to re-establish the orange colour that we want to use select the Dropper Tool
move the cursor over the edge of the orange rectangle you did for the first
part of the fuselage and click we now have the same orange colour for the work
with the stripes.
We will have
to draw 14 sloping vertical lines across the back of the aircraft.
These will be the outlines for the later filling in using the Retouch
method.
Select the
Line Tool in the Tools Control box
set Line Type to Normal set Width to 1
The
first line is critical for angle as this will set the visual angle for all of
the others. Do not worry about drawing through the windows as we will fix that a
little later.
When your lines are finished, use the Line Tool to cap off each of the yellow
line areas. (Figure 17)

Figure 17
Tools to be
used: Wand
and Retouch

Now we need
to fill in the areas using the retouch method. First select the Magic Wand tool
we will be selecting several areas so we will need to use the SHIFT key as we
select (click inside) each of the areas that will be coloured orange.
Select all of
the areas that require to be filled in with orange.
We have
highlighted the areas we now want to work with We now need to darken the area
so that our colour retouch can take a richer effect. Select
Menu Item Colours Adjust
Brightness/Contrast set the Brightness to 40 (minus
40) and the Contrast to 8 click OK
Click on the
Retouch Tool set the Tools Control
box Retouch Mode to Colour to Target
Holding the
mouse button down rub over the highlight area repeatedly with the colour
orange and it will slowly mature into a dark orange/yellow type line but all of
the detail will still be there.
If you
discover that you missed an area dont worry finish off the Retouch for the
current area then do the process again for the area/s you missed.
Done at last
but a bit messy for some of the windows and the door.
(Figure 18) We can clean
that up with a bit of cut and paste and a bit of line drawing.

Figure 18
Tools to be
used: Selection
and Line
Use the
Selection Tool to select one of the clean windows.
Press CTRL C to copy the area and then CTRL V to paste it as a new image.
Clean up the background area around the window using the background
colour then we will have a crisp window to replace the ones that are a bit
messy. Use Ctrl C to copy the image
then go back to your main texture and Use CTRL SHIFT E to paste as this will
make the background transparent during the paste process for the windows.
A Clean
Window
for use if you cant clean one up. (Copy
this and paste to your Texture work using white as the background colour)
Select the
Selection Tool and right click on the tail image (anywhere will do) this will
release the select on the last window.
Use the Line
Tool and the Colour Black to correct the door frame.
Done! (Figure
19) And starting to look very good.
We are almost finished with this only the blues to go

Figure 19
Tools to be
used: Dropper
and Line
Open the
Bahamasair-2.bmp
Select the
Dropper Tool in the left column and then move the dropper over the Bahamasair
Tail in the image select the colour of the Tail area (be sure to select one
that is appropriate as there are several blues here) using the left mouse button
(to change the top colour choice to the blue colours of the tail and fuselage).
Close the Bahamasair-2.bmp image.
Back to our
texture using the line tool outline the area that is to be blue in the rear
fuselage area. This will enable us
to select the areas to be blue with the Magic Wand.
This does not
have to be neat but must be a closed area otherwise the wand will select too
large an area (Figure 20).

Figure 20
Tools to be
used: Wand
and Retouch
Now we need
to fill in the areas using the retouch method. First select the Magic Wand tool
we will be selecting several areas so we will need to use the SHIFT key as we
select (click inside) each of the areas that will be coloured Blue.
We have
highlighted the areas we now want to work with We now need to darken the area
so that our colour retouch can take a richer effect. Select
Menu Item Colours Adjust
Brightness/Contrast set the Brightness to 40 (minus
40) and the Contrast to 8 click OK
Click on the
Retouch Tool set the Tools Control
box Retouch Mode to Colour to Target
Holding the
mouse button down rub over the highlight area repeatedly with the colour blue
and it will slowly mature into a blue area but all of the detail will still be
there.
If you
discover that you missed an area dont worry finish off the Retouch for the
current area then do the process again for the area/s you missed.

Figure 21
The blue
areas look a little too light for the true colours of the original.
(Figure 21) So now using the Magic Wand again select all of the blue
areas using the shift key.
Select
Menu Item Colours Adjust
Brightness/Contrast set the Brightness to 20 (minus
20) and the Contrast to 8 click OK
Hows that!
(Figure 22) Starting to look like the original aircraft now.

Figure 22
Great work
This texture is almost done only the tail to go.
Time to save again
Now go to Step 4 - The
